We love portable surge protectors for charging all our gadgets, but few offer high-powered USB ports in a portable package. The Mediabridge Portable Surge Protector, on the other hand, provides two plus three outlets in pocketable form.
The benefit of high-powered USB ports is that they tend to charge most devices faster, plus they're compatible with the greater requirements of some tablets. This recommendations comes via the Wirecutter, and here's what they had to say:
A lot of people are going to public places to charge their gadgets, and you'll never be turned away from a full outlet if you have a power strip with you. This one has 2 high power USB plugs in it so it can also make the most of your plug-in time. I've been testing one for a few months now and compared to the old belkin and the monster ones I've tried, it is the best.
We're fond of the Belkin options, too. This one, for example, offers six total outlets plus two USB ports without taking up much more space. If you just need to charge a lot of USB devices, however, I found that building your own is the way to go (and you get two high-powered ports as well). That said, if you want an easy option that you can fit in your pocket, check out the Mediabridge.
