Petcast: New Year's resolutions for pets | WGN Radio

New Year?s Resolutions for Pets: Kicking off this first WGN Radio Petcast of 2013 with Dr. Ron DeHaven, executive vice-president and CEO of the American Veterinary Medical Association offers his wishes and hopes for pets for this coming year.

I am a huge fan of ?What?s A Dog For? The Surprising History, Science, Philosophy, Politics of Man?s Best Friend.? The book was released late in 2012, and I talk with the author John Homans.

Should you avoid adopting a fearful dog? Or what if you have a dog who has developed fear? Debbie Jacobs says there?s hope for these dogs. She is the author of ?A Guide to Living with and Training a Fearful Dog.?

And your Chicagonow.com pet holiday photo contest winner, Melissa Artega explains why and how her dog Timmy holds signs, like the one that says ?Merry Christmas.? Timmy was named ?The Most Festive Pet.? Melissa ?won? an appearance on this Petcast, and I promised to make a contribution to Tree House Humane Society. ?Tree House director of development Jenny Schlueter joins in the fun.
